Top 3 Things We Learned at SURGE 2016

On February 23 and 24th, Pepipost spent two incredible days at SURGE — Web Summit’s first conference in Bangalore, India — along with 5,000 other attendees from more than 70 countries. Along with showcasing our transactional email platform and mascot to startups, the media, and investors, we participated in SURGE’s pitch contest. We had a super memorable time and, while we can’t even begin to share everything we experienced, we can share three amazing things we learned.

1. Make in India is Going Strong

Since 2014, the Make in India program has been successfully transforming India into a global design and manufacturing hub and SURGE 2016 was a prime example of how much it has accomplished in just two short years. More than 400 startups exhibited at SURGE and are launching tech companies in India. At SURGE, we could see the excitement surrounding the Make in India movement, as well as so many investors interested in investing in Indian companies. The continued visibility for India-based startups is sure to keep increasing over the years.

2. Savvy Companies Need a Better Transactional Email Solution

Throughout the two-day event, we interviewed hundreds of attendees about the biggest pain points in their email campaigns. The most common answer? Their emails end up in spam.


At Pepipost, we provide a solution for this by significantly increasing inboxing. While we’re already ahead of the game compared to many companies, knowing how big of an issue this is for so many people further inspires us to continue cleaning up the email ecosystem so that your important messages never get caught in spam folders again.

3. People Love Pepi!

What can we say - people love our mascot, Pepi! More than 100 attendees, investors, members of the media, and SURGE team members visited our booth and took photos with Pepi.

He even joined us onstage during our pitch. Why? Because reliable, speedy email delivery brings a smile to people’s faces (and interacting with our fun mascot doesn’t hurt, either). As our mascot, Pepi perfectly represents who we are: a peppy, dedicated team of people.
