Email Bounce
An email that is not delivered to the subscriber it is known as a Bounce. The sender receives an email immediately indicating the Email Bounce. There could be a number of reasons why an email bounces, like spam or server issues. Most times the bounce message will give you information stating the reason for the bounce.
The main categories under which an email bounce occurs are either Soft Bounce or Hard Bounce.
Soft Bounce means there is a temporary delivery issue which can be fixed with or without any changes to the email itself. This also means that the email address was valid and the email reached the recipient's mail server but the email bounced back due to the following reasons:
- An email was too long
- The inbox of the recipient is full
- Recipient's server is down or offline
Hard Bounce is a permanent issue as an email cannot be delivered. This occurs when the email is completely rejected and cannot reach the recipient's server for either of these reasons:
- The email address is invalid
- The domain name doesn’t exist
- The subscriber has blocked delivery
